Intern with WWF Cities (communication)

WWF is seeking an intern to support communications for our sustainable urban development program. The intern will assist with the launch of the new Urban Solutions website, the old version can be found here. WWF's Urban Solutions are case studies that highlight the work that cities have done towards a climate-friendly, one-planet future. The goal is to provide an easily searchable database of city actions that other cities can learn from and replicate.
In addition the intern will be asked to support on assessing the recent We Love Cities campaign. In October, 2024 this campaign ran in 79 cities in 6 continents. The campaign is intended to bolster public engagement in cities with ambitious climate action plans. The intern would be asked to support the analysis of the citizen engagement data that has come in during the campaign and summarizing lessons learnt from the campaign.
Examples of tasks
- Support the coordination of communications with WWF offices globally
- Create texts & images for newsletters, social media and websites, with opportunities to suggest and present your own ideas
- Assist in revamping the Urban Solutions website, which will include quality control & producing content, as well as conducting interviews with city representatives
- Support the assessment of the WWF Cities website and its restructuring
- Contribute to the development of social media strategy & updating WWF Cities content including the photo library. Using AI to analyse conversations around cities and sustainability and trends in online discourse
- Work on the analysis of citizen perception data and incorporating lessons learnt from the We Love Cities challenge

Desirable qualifications
- Relevant education in communications and campaigns or project coordination and support
- Good technical skills and knowledge of website design
- Good technical skills in digital communications for various platforms, social media and tracking and analysis tools.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail
- Excellence in English, both written and verbal
- Experience handling administrative tasks
- Ability to work both independently and in groups is vital as much of our work is collaborative
- Knowledge of sustainability, climate and urban issues preferable
Timeframe
The timeframe is flexible but preferably full-time for at least 4 months (maximum 6 months) starting January/February 2025.
Requirements for internshipuirements for internship
To apply for an internship with WWF Sweden, you need to be enrolled in a course that includes an internship/work placement via an education establishment such as a university, college or vocational college, or be entitled to an internship via the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen).
We do not offer any salary or compensation during the internship.
