Are you curious how cities can deliver on a more sustainable urban food system? Want to explore reporting, policies and actions on city level for sustainable, healthy, resilient food? Apply for an internship with WWF!
WWF is looking for an intern to join the Food team and support the transition toward sustainable food systems with cities in focus. The intern will contribute to the development of WWF’s global and international work with municipalities and cities.
WWF works to promote healthy and sustainable food environments, and transforming cities is a key piece of this work. WWF’s work with local communities is anchored in the global initiative One Planet City Challenge (OPCC), where cities report their climate data through the international CDP-ICLEI platform. WWF analyzes this data and provides tailored feedback to guide cities toward best practices in climate mitigation and adaptation. The strategic development of food-related reporting and guidance components will be in focus here.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about and contribute to the development of WWF’s Food program, with a focus on food environments and urban food system transformation.
- Support operational processes, including preparation and documentation of meetings with WWF offices and other stakeholders as well as contributing to funding applications.
- Contribute independently to various aspects of the program such as analysis, communication, or developing new approaches.
Focus area of the Internship Project
The work will include activities such as mapping of cities reporting on different aspects of urban food systems and local engagement, with a particular focus on how community resilience can contribute to sustainable transformation.
The internship may include:
- Analyzing data via the CDP-ICLEI platform
- Conducting in-depth interviews with municipalities
- Summarizing your findings in a PowerPoint presentation and a report to WWF
- General support to the WWF Food teams work

- Has strong analytical skills and enjoys working with data
- Experience in designing and conducting interviews
- Strong communicator and skilled writer
- Is thorough, proactive, and takes initiative
- Is creative and solution-oriented
- Relevant education, preferably in sustainable food systems, urban planning with relation to food, environmental science or a related field.

The internship is full time, 38 hours per week, and not suitable to combine with other full-time studies/work. The internship period is the spring semester 2026, the exact weeks are flexible and can be adjusted to fit in with the structure of different courses. Being able to stay longer is a plus but the internship should not be shorter than four months.
The internship can be remote for up to fifty percent of the time.
