Intern with WWF Cities: Events and Communications

WWF is seeking an intern to support with events and communications for our global sustainable urban development program.
The intern will assist with the events coordination of our One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) award ceremonies. These are ceremonies held at the national, regional and global level for cities that have shown themselves to be leaders in their publicly available climate action plans.
Another important focus will be to assist with the coordination of our We Love Cities global campaign run by WWF Cities. This campaign is primarily on social media and has run in over 79 cities in 6 continents, receiving a range of 1 to 1.5 million global votes every cycle.
The campaign is intended to bolster public engagement in cities with ambitious climate action plans. The intern would be asked to support the general logistics on the We Love Cities campaign as well as support WWF national offices globally in their planning.
The intern will also be asked to support the global communications that surround the WWF Cities program in general.
Examples of Tasks:
- Support the planning and logistics for the OPCC global event
- Help develop and disseminate case studies of cities’ best practices in sustainable urban development as part of our EU funded project. May include audio-visual content.
- Coordinate with WWF offices globally
- Support the logistics for the We Love Cities campaign, coordinate and keep in contact with participating cities
- Support the coordination of communications with WWF offices globally
- Create texts & images for newsletters, social media and websites, with opportunities to suggest and present your own ideas
Desirable qualifications:
- Relevant education in communications and campaigns or project coordination and support
- Good technical skills and knowledge of website design
- Good technical skills in digital communications for various platforms, social media and tracking and analysis tools
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail
- Excellence in English, both written and verbal
- Experience handling administrative tasks
- Ability to work both independently and in groups is vital as much of our work is collaborative
- Knowledge of sustainability, climate and urban issues preferable
Time and arrangement
The internship is full time, 38 hours per week, and not suitable to combine with other full-time studies/work. The internship period is the spring semester 2026, the exact weeks are flexible and can be adjusted to fit in with the structure of different courses. Being able to stay longer is a plus but the internship should not be shorter than four months.
The internship can be remote for up to fifty percent of the time.
Requirements for internship
To apply for an internship with WWF Sweden, you need to fulfil one of the criteria listed below, throughout the entire internship period. You are responsible for researching and ensuring that you meet one of the criteria.
- You are admitted to or have applied to an internship/work placement course (as part of a programme or independent course) via a university or higher education institution.
- You are eligible to apply for arbetspraktik via the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen).
- You are eligible to apply for Erasmus+ funding.
We do not make any exceptions from the requirements.
We do not offer any salary or compensation during the internship.
WWF Sweden’s internship programme
